8 April 2015

Cafe John & Jin (Myeongdong Station)

Chanced upon this cafe while on the way to the subway station.
Honey bread with vanilla ice-cream. Yes, we had ice-cream for breakfast.

Gyeongbokgung Palace (Gyeongbokgung Station) - website

Gwanghwamun Gate, the main and largest gate of the palace.

Heungnyemun Gate is the second inner gate into the palace, and is located just past Gwanghwamun Gate.

Geunjeongjeon Hall is the Throne Hall, where the king granted audiences to his officials, presided over large official functions and met foreign envoys.

The mighty king's throne.

Gyeonghoeru Pavilion was where the king threw feasts for foreign envoys or his court officials. This place is super scenic and photogenic!

Hyangwonjeong Pavilion. Another beauty!

Hyangwonji Pond
Look at this scary slanted tree.

The palace is so pretty during spring. Really went at the right time. Look on for more photos of the gorgeous blooms.

Just in time to observe the royal guard changing ceremony.

The royal guard looked so unreal.

Tosokchon Samgyetang (Gyeongbokgung Station) - website

Walked a short distance to the most famous ginseng chicken place in Korea. The queue was a little long but we were inside in no time because of how big the restaurant is. There are even trees inside!

This photo was taken after our lunch. No queue!

Pots of cabbage kimchi are placed on each tables for customers to refill by themselves. It's so good!

Radish kimchi

Ordered the original Tosokchon Ginseng Chicken Soup, which was served alongside some ginseng wine. Yummy!

Bukchon Hanok Village (Anguk Station) - website

Pretty path leading to a scent shop.

Flowers everywhere.

Walked up the steep slope to find that exact spot for that superb view.

And here it is - traditional houses and modern buildings in a frame. Spot Namsan Tower at the back.

Went to find Lee Minho's house in 'Personal Taste' drama. It's nothing much actually, since it is someone else's house and not an attraction.

Samcheongdong (Anguk Station)

This flower shop is so big and beautiful. Almost everyone had a second glance when they walked past.

Mukshidonna (Anguk Station) - website

The restaurant moved to a bigger location, which is just 1 or 2 alleys before its previous location.

Super shiok cheese tteokbokki for dinner, especially in that cold weather! I'm craving for it now already.

Similar to Yoogane, you can select from a menu of add-ons to flavour up your cheesy pot of goodness. We added ramyeon, fish cake and eggs

Samcheongdong during the night is equally beautiful.

Cafe Breezin (Anguk Station)

We chose to have desserts at this cafe because of the orange cantilever umbrellas on the rooftop. But it was so chilly that we went up and came down lol.

Pretty strawberry waffle.

Dongsibjagak Watchtower (Anguk Station)

This is a standalone watchtower, and is supposed to be part of Gyeongbokgung Palace. With the demolition of the walls, it now sits in the middle of a busy road intersection.

Tom N Toms (Sungshin Women's University Station) - website

Espresso TomNccino and Mocha TomNccino after some shopping.

Chir Chir Fusion Chicken Factory (Myeongdong Station)

Here again for takeaway supper!

Ordered half-half chicken (original and spicy). So finger-licking good!
